A seated figure in hand-modelled Parian porcelain, eyes lowered, hands resting quietly in her lap. From an elaborate headdress of fans, scrolls and blossom, long strands of individually made porcelain flowers fall on silk threads — veiling the face, drifting across the body, settling on the pooled form beneath her.
The title takes its name from the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing: the simple act of being present among trees and letting the senses open. Here that stillness is made physical. The figure does not look out at us; she is entirely within the moment, immersed in a slow fall of blossom.
The arms are fully articulated, allowing the pose to be gently adjusted.
