Eos

Cast in warm bronze resin, thepanel depicts Eos, the ancient Greek goddess of dawn, as immortalised in Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey through his celebrated epithet rhododaktylos — “rosy-fingered dawn.”

Emerging from a radiant sunburst, Eos is rendered in the flowing, sensuous style of the Art Nouveau tradition. Her drapery falls in sinuous folds about her figure as she steps forward to open the gates of heaven, her gaze lifted to greet the nascent day. Reed grasses rise at her feet; a halo of solar rays crowns her form.

The plaque is framed by a weathered timber surround cast in the same resin, giving it the appearance of an ancient architectural fragment.
